"Africa and Europe share far more than geography. Our economies are increasingly interconnected. We face many of the same strategic questions around investment, energy, climate, security, migration, skills, technology and artificial intelligence. I believe we should make every effort to turn this proximity and mutual interest into stronger, fairer and more sustainable partnerships.

That means moving beyond traditional donor–recipient relationships.

It means building relationships based on investment, entrepreneurship, innovation, responsibility and mutual interest.

• European companies should see Africa not simply as a market, but as a long-term investment partner.
• African companies should have better opportunities to participate in European and global value chains.
• Organisations on both continents should be able to benefit from the opportunities created by artificial intelligence without losing sight of people, responsibility and organisational realities.
